Training
Before going out on an actual search, our members are minimally required to:
- Pass an Operational Test which includes sections on Dog Obedience, Canine Transport, Handler Skills, and Search Practical Test.
- Obtain a passing score on the SMSARD Operational Test -OR- Search and Rescue Technician Exam (Levels I, II, or III).
- Become Maryland First Responder, or higher, Certified
- Have all of the required search equipment.
- Attend training sessions usually held on Sundays throughout St. Mary's County.
